Carissa McCarthy joined Rutgers Global- ISSS office as an International Student Adviser in 2006. During her time at Rutgers, she has worked extensively with F-1 and J-1 students and in cross-cultural programming for students and staff. Her role focuses on advising short-term and non-degree and non-traditional students, such as Fulbright-sponsored, J-1 student interns, and F-1 non-degree programs. In addition, she has worked closely with the ISSS office to provide intercultural training and programs for the campus. Her recent work has allowed her to support programming for our refugees and families that make up the diverse campus of Rutgers. She enthusiastically supports these unique populations to help ensure their academic and social success. During Carissa's undergraduate studies, she traveled abroad and, upon returning, decided to pursue a career in International Education. She graduated with a master’s degree in Intercultural Communication and enjoys traveling to new places.
