Heather Barikmo is the Director of The English Language Center at LaGuardia Community College, City University of New York. This is the largest adult English language program in New York City, comprised of an Intensive English Program and multiple part-time programs. At The English Language Center, Heather serves both international and immigrant students whose English-learning goals include higher education, career opportunity, and stronger community. At LaGuardia Community College, Heather is a campus leader in both internationalization and student advocacy efforts. She began her career as a classroom ESOL teacher and strives to keep students’ needs at the center of her work. She has a master's in applied linguistics from Teachers College, Columbia University and a bachelor's in philosophy and applied linguistics from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.
