Andrew Shiotani joined Brown University as Director of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) in September 2025. In this role, he supports and manages a team of international student and scholar advisors, oversees the University's F and J compliance, and monitors ongoing changes to federal policy impacting the international community. Andrew has been working within the field of international services and international education for over twenty five years. Immediately before joining Brown, he served in similar roles at the University of California, Davis as well as Tufts University, and has been an advisor of students and scholars at several other institutions, including Columbia University, New York University, Seattle University, and the University of Oregon. Andrew has volunteered actively in NAFSA: Association of International Educators and presented at numerous regional and national NAFSA conferences on topics such as immigration compliance, international student and scholar advising, and equity and inclusion. Andrew holds a bachelor's degree in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and master's degrees in regional studies and comparative education from Harvard University and Columbia University, respectively.
